Organizational Design for Change Management

Driven by the information age and increased global competition, more and more organizations are realizing the need to redesign current operations.

Organizational Design goes beyond rearranging or eliminating boxes on an organization chart. Effective organizational change requires a wholistic approach addressing the components of Task, Structure, Systems and Culture.

Organizational Development Approach Scale™ (ODAS™) The Model provides a comprehensive framework to approach Organization Design from multiple levels within organizations.

Operational Level – The organizational arena in which one has both influence and control over daily operations.

Global Level – Elements within the organization that are outside of one’s span of control and which must be influenced with limited or no control.

External Level – Forces from the external environment that are outside the organization’s influence or control and require strategic consideration.

The Need

Change has been a part of life since creation and will continue to be a dynamic that impacts how work will be performed and managed. With the swiftly moving events of the past decade, change is a common occurrence. Organizations are more frequently “out of sync” with market demands and often experience painful and costly consequences.

The Process

McFletcher consultants work with and train a cross section of organizational representatives to clarify and assess the current organization and its future vision. The ODAS process provides an organizational assessment and action planning methodology for strategic alignment of the operational level, with the global and the external levels. This process offers a snapshot of both the current and future organization and sets the course for its future direction.
